Sunday, January 17, 2016 In preparation for the Democratic presidential debate in Charleston, South Carolina on Sunday.
Follow live as The Times covers tonight’s Democratic debate
Welcome to debate night.
Join us at around 9 p.m. as Nick Confessore, Maggie Haberman, Alan Rappeport and our fact-check team provide live analysis of the first Democratic presidential debate in 2016 (it’s the fourth so far).
Hillary Clinton, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Martin O’Malley will participate. Two weeks before the Iowa caucus, the race there has tightened significantly and the bickering between Mr. Sanders and Mrs. Clinton, whose campaign, some of her aides said, underestimated the threat from Mr. Sanders, has also reached new levels. Tonight’s debate could be fiestier than previous exchanges.
Here’s how to watch and here is a look at who has been standing in as Mrs. Clinton in Mr. Sanders’s debate preparations. Stay tuned throughout the day: Follow us on Twitter @NYTPolitics and on Facebook for First Draft updates.
